Applying for an Australian Student Visa
The first step towards your Australian Student Visa is a Pre-visa Assessment or better known as a PVA. To apply for your PVA, you need to submit:
- a letter of offer from an Australian education institution
- your IELTS English proficiency test score (NB: TOEFL results are not accepted for the purposes of obtaining an Australian student visa)
- arranged your finances to demonstrate that you can support your tuition and living expenses while studying in Australia
- Bonafides to support that you should have basic qualification required for the class of visa you are applying for
You are required to pay a visa processing fee of Rs.14,000/- to get your student visa processed. This fee is non-refundable.
Cost is an important component you need to keep in mind while planning your education in Australia. You will need to demonstrate to the Australia Visa Officer at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi that you are capable of supporting your education and living expenses when you apply for a student visa. So you willneed to do your financial calculations carefully as part of your research. For the purposes of calculating the finances required for your student visa, the Australian Visa Office assess your living and accommodation expenses in Australia as being AUD 12,000 per annum ie: around Indian Rs.3.6lakhs. The exact cost will vary of course, depending upon each individual's lifestyle.
