| To know the position, applicants can send an SMS from any mobile number to 9442151518 in the following format: STAT File number (as given in the receipt).
The main features of the new service is, if the applicant has given his/her mobile number in column 9 of the application, automated message will be sent to the applicant every time there is a progress in its status.Moreover, if the applicant has not given his/her mobile number in the application, the individual can send the message from any mobile number and receive a reply. Madurai Passport Office caters to applicants from Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.
